Wedding photography, Northamptonshire - Gurj and James are married!

Gurj and James had a fabulous wedding today, marrying at All Saints Church, Harpole, with their reception following at Kislingbury.

Gurj looked absolutely stunning, closely followed by her four bridesmaids who all wore matching saris.

The weather stayed nice and (too!) bright, certainly a change from the last few days, and we even managed to take Gurj and James off down the road for a few pictures of the two of them between the end of the wedding breakfast and the arrival of their evening guests.

Here's a sneak peak of a few early favourites:

Congratulations Gurj and James. We hope you have a fantastic honeymoon, and look forward to catching up with you when you're back!

Abbie

A couple of days ago it was up to Cripwell Farm in North Leicestershire to meet up with Abbie.

I took a couple of wedding dresses (!) and went up with Northampton based photographer Sarah Vivienne for a fun shoot using the farm and stables for a bit of variety. With blustery wind and constant changes in the weather - one minute bright sunshine, the next pouring rain - we had great fun, especially with the billowing veil.

Here's a small selection of images

Abbie, you were a natural, and I can't believe that you haven't done anything like this before!

Jessica, Matthew and Oliver

I photographed Jessica and Matthew recently when I went and took some pictures at Andrew Minarik's newly refurbished hair and beauty salon in Kibworth.

Their brother, Oliver, was missing that day so I caught up with them at the beginning of the week for some more portraits, this time including Oliver.

Here are a couple of pictures of the three of them, followed by individual images of Oliver, Jessica and Matthew:

Emma and David

Emma and David are getting married in January at the fabulous Rushton Hall.

The weather at that time of year may be a bit less predictable that it is now, and the hours of daylight will certainly be shorter, so we met up at Rushton Hall recently for a catch up and some portraits.

Predictably (!), the mid July weather was overcast and threatening rain, but it didn't stop us going for a wander around the grounds. Here are a few early favourites:

Janet and Jo

I caught up with Janet and Jo a few days ago when came round so that we could discuss how their plans are progressing.

Their civil partnership is planned for the spring, and it seems like everything is progressing nicely with the only major decision (I exaggerate slightly!) being the enviable task of deciding where to go away afterwards!

I also took the opportunity to take a few portraits. Here are some favourites:

John and Charlie

I photographed brothers John and Charlie, recently; just some straightforward portraits shot in and around their home.

Outside there were some great textures and shapes to use as a background, particularly the round and square windows of the house the behind:

And inside, there was some lovely light streaming in through one of the windows, to provide a bit of variety:

Paul, Barbara and Ruth

A few weeks ago I was delighted to be asked to judge the images entered into a photography competition by members of staff at Alliance and Leicester.

There was a high standard of entries across the five categories and I was tasked with selecting a winner for each category and then an overall winner.

Part of the winners prize was to be a portrait session with yours truly, and at the beginning of the week I shot up to Liverpool for the day to meet up with the winner, Paul Kirwan, and his wife, Barbara, and daughter, Ruth.

We met at the Albert Dock in Liverpool, a location that I wasn't familiar with despite numerous trips up to Liverpool in the past.

Around the dock area there were some great locations and backdrops. Here are a few favourites, including one taken against the glass backdrop of the new ferry terminal, and one using one of Liverpool's icon Three Graces as a backdrop:

It was good to catch up with Paul again. If only I'd know that he was interested in photography all those years ago...

Wedding photography Rockingham Castle - Lucie and Chris are married!

After the uncomfortable weather of the last few days I must confess that it was a bit of a relief to see some heavy(!) rain this morning as it helped clear the atmosphere for Lucie and Chris' magical wedding today at Rockingham Castle.

They had a lovely wedding at St Leonard's Church and, thankfully, brolleys were redundant for their walks down to the church and then back up to the castle for their reception.

Rockingham Castle made a superb venue for a fabulous couple who obviously enjoyed their big day.

Here are a few images for a sneak peak of their special day:

We even had a bit of a sunset for a semi-silhouette to end with!

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Jones! Have a fab honeymoon and we look forward to catching up with you on your return.

Ruby and Scarlett

It's fair to say that I've photographed Ruby and Scarlett once or twice before, and they're such great subjects to photograph.

They came round during the week for some up to date portraits, firstly using the garden as a backdrop, then sitting just inside the front doorway where the light was lovely and soft.

Here is a small selection of favourite images. Firstly, Ruby:

Then Scarlett:

And then the two together in the 'front door' studio:
